Woodstock Fair 2016

One of the things that always ushers us into fall and makes the end of summer like a little less of a disappointment is the Woodstock fair. Caleb got to go to the one in Warren County on a special outing with Aunt Courtney, but the rest of us missed out and looked forward to our favorite fair in the area. That may sound a little like I'm a trader since it isn't our own county festivities, but most in the area will agree, when it comes to fairs, Woodstock puts on the best.

Hadley had her tonsils out a few days before the fair began and landed herself in the emergency room with dehydration that Saturday. Since she was admitted for a couple nights, NaNa took the boys and they ended up heading to the fair without us. The following weekend Hadley still wasn't back to herself, but she begged me to take her so that she could wear he cowgirl boots, and against my better judgment, we went.

Things were a little hairy at first since Dave couldn't make it and I had all three kids by myself until we met up with my mom, grandparents, and some friends. Trying to get the kids and two strollers between all those cars and up and down that hilly parking lot towards the gate was enough to make me want to turn around and go home, but finally we got there and the rest of the evening we had a good time.

Hadley met a new little friend, my mom's friend Danny's granddaughter - Dani Rose. The girls hit it off immediately.

We checked out the chickens and rabbits.

Then, Hadley and Reid rode a few rides. The boys rode a ton of rides the weekend before when everything was a buck, so they'd already had some excitement. My girl was so looking forward to her turn though! She could hardly wait. Meanwhile, poor Caleb had had a rough week and lost several privileges including the rides, so he opted to stay with NaNa near the food, which may have made it easier on both him and me. (Disciplining is so hard on little boys and mommies.)

Next, we went over to watch my sister try her skills at bull riding. She was pretty good at it, even if it was a mechanical one. We all laughed like crazy. I think Caleb especially got a kick out of it.

My favorite part is always going to the livestock barn, and though the kids were getting tired, they definitely enjoyed it too and even seemed to get a second wind.

We were pooped but we had fun. Glad we pushed through and kept our tradition. It was worth it.
