Tuesday my little girl turned three, and to celebrate, we had a big day planned.
She decided to start things out early...I mean really early...quarter past five to be exact...or at least that's when she decided to come bounding joyfully into our bedroom (so she might have been up even earlier than that). All my attempts to get her back to sleep were in vain. She snuggled in my bed for a good while, but finally Mommy said, "Are you ready to get up?" and off she went.
Typically, I try to make pancakes on the kids' birthdays, so that was my plan. I was feeling pretty wore out from the early wake up call but decided to offer to whip her up a few anyway. Thankfully though, Hadley had another easier idea in mind - Rice Krispies! Everyone was happy...
Our plan was to go to Manassas to get her three-year-old photos taken at The Picture People, and then head to Chuck E. Cheese. We spent most of the morning just watching a few shows of her choice and getting everyone ready to head out the door when Granny and NaNa arrived.
The boys walked around the mall with their grandmas while my girl and I got her pics done. She did a great job and we were out of there in no time.
Then came the real highlight of the day. Ever since we talked about taking Dan and Caleb to Chuck E. Cheese for a night out, Hadley has been begging to go too. I thought her birthday would be the perfect day to honor that request and make her day special.
Since it was the middle of the week, I figured we'd pretty much have the place to ourselves, but Momma forgot about spring break! Though there were quite a few kids, it wasn't overwhelming and we all had a good time.

This was a new ride...a spinning cup of hot cocoa. |
Jump, Caleb! |
On of the reasons I opted to go to Manassas vs. Winchester was because they had a play area for the kids to crawl through. To our surprise, when we arrived we found it had been disassembled and replaced with bumper cars and a few other games. Caleb was pretty disappointed at first...and so was I since he really enjoyed it and it didn't cost any tokens. However, those bumper cars sure were fun and he had a great time trying them out.
Later, even Hadley got to have a test drive. The minimum age requirement to ride was three, so she just made it!
Reid liked the pizza...but he loved the games. He was happy Granny gave him his own mini slice of pepperoni to hold but was anxious to get out of the booth and play.
Hadley got an extra special treat while we were there. Her Daddy took off from work for a few hours to drop by and play.
I love Dave's exaggerated face on this roller coaster ride. LOL! |
We stayed about two hours, and they of course begged for more! I can't blame them. "It's where a kid can be a kid" after all.
Caleb picked out this play dough toy for her weeks ago at the Dollar Tree. |
Mommy and Daddy got Hadley a princess dress and crown to wear to her birthday party next week... |
...as well as a tea set to use with her friends. |
I had to head to the chiropractor after that, but NaNa showed up with a few more presents.
That evening, Caleb and Hadley enjoyed the new tea sets together. They were wore out from the day and had a few squabbles while playing as a result, but they had a pretty good time together too.
I ended up with a stomach bug that night and didn't get to tuck my baby girl in on her birthday, but her daddy took care of it. I think she had a pretty good day.
