After driving all the way to Florida then doing two theme parks back to back, we were ready for a rest day to recharge. Originally, we thought about staying at one of the Disney resorts and doing all the parks there back to back, but thankfully we found a much more inexpensive route that allowed us to lengthen our trip and add in those much needed rest days here and there.
This was a vacation after all!
Here is the little town house we found, located in Emerald Island Resort. It wasn't the fanciest, most updated spot, but it was clean and met the needs of our family. Plus, we were able to stay for eleven nights for around what the cost of four in a hotel in the Disney area would have cost. We could even cook some of our meals there in our full size kitchen, and everyone had room to spread out versus in just a single room or suite like we'd considered.
The neighborhood was very quiet and many of the neighboring houses didn't seem to have any visitors while we were there. The resort also offered a couple small playgrounds - one within walking distance of our place. Even more importantly was the pool right across from the park, which we made good use of when we got the chance.
We thought about getting a timeshare or condo in a place with a big pool, some of which had mini water parks, but in all honesty this was enough for our purposes since we only had a few opportunities to go anyway with everything else we'd planned. There were usually only a few other people around if any at all. Relaxing...
The kids' puddle jumpers made our jobs easy in the water, and they got some good practice swimming like little fishies.
Our tired little buddies also got to catch up on some rest, prepping for the late night we'd spend at Magic Kingdom the next day.
We were so thankful for our lazy day. :)
