In August we did a lot of the same ol', same ol', thoroughly enjoying the last month of summer.
One of my favorite things we get to enjoy that time of year is all the great produce, especially tomatoes, everyone shares from their gardens. We didn't have time to do our own, but Grandma, Granddaddy, Mom, and Natalia made sure we got plenty.
We also had fun visiting at Granny's...
...enjoying a visit from Grandma and Granddaddy...
...doing a little art work...
...playing with toys...
| The kids found some giant spoons in the kitchen and wanted to play with them. I tricked them into cleaning up the toys by telling them to try to scoop up things and put them in the bins as a game. It worked for a few minutes... |
...going to the park...
| The last Thursday before Caleb went back to school, we had one last hurrah picnic. We kept things simple and brought easy prepackaged snacks. No messy kitchen to clean up that day for mom, a chance to get out some energy for the kids, and sunshine for everyone! |
| My mom got to drop by to spend an hour or so with us too while we were there. |
| She brought snacks as well, and of the course the kids were more excited about her treats than Mommy's healthy options. |
| Reid even did this for the first time! |
...and playing in the water.
| Stacey invited Granny, the kids, and me for a play date at her community's pool that last Thursday in August, so we took her up on it. When Caleb got out of preschool we headed straight there. The cousins were so excited to see each other. |
| "Put on your wings," they shouted, flying around with arms outstretched. |
| Sweet little pair |
| I didn't realize how much the kids would want to snack, but Stacey was prepared with lots of goodies. Popcorn, anyone? |
| I was super impressed with Daniel and Anabella's swimming skills, especially Dan's. You can tell they've had a lot of practice this summer. |
| We had so much fun at the pool that Stacey invited us back the next day, and it didn't take me long to say yes! In two days time, my kids got in as much pool time as they had all summer. We will have to get together earlier next year. |
| I was so afraid Reid was going to hurt his poor little knees, but he kept wanting to crawl on that cement. |
| Aunt Brenda went along to help me keep up with everyone that day. Reid has been afraid of her lately for some reason, but he was warming up to her by the end of the day. |
| My mom decided to come at the last minute too. |
| Lots of pizza places deliver to the pool and have great deals, making lunch a breeze |
Well...I guess that wraps up our summer. Thanks for reading.
Fun! Love the pool pictures- so cute watching them play together. Glad you could make it both days and definitely have to do it sooner next year!
