Yogi's Halloween

Trick-or-treating is difficult when you live in a rural area and have an infant or toddler that has to be put in and out of a carseat repeatedly. For that reason, the past two years we stuck to visiting just a few relatives and calling it good. This time we started early in morning with a visit to Na-Na at work. Bears need insurance too you know.

Then Yogi lugged his pic-a-nic basket (on loan from Aunt Pat) to Granny's and was rewarded with some special goodies, including a flashlight that makes spooky noises, a Halloween Sesame Street pop-up book that he's already torn apart, and a lizard that you can blow up into a ball.

After Granny saw him in his costume, we took it off for the remainder of the day for comfort's sake. But, after playing awhile, taking a nap, and taking Daddy's car to be realigned with Mommy, it was time for Yogi to visit Grandma Nora Ann and Granddaddy Eddie's. Grandma gave Caleb/Yogi some food for his picnic basket and some other treats. I warned her not to feed the bears but she didn't listen. Aunt Brenda, Haley, and Cole stopped by so they all got to see each others' costumes.

Our final stop was to Na-Na and Pop Pop's house. My cousin Diane brought her daughter to visit too. Lexi dressed from head to knees as a witch this year but check out her feet - she's a cowgirl at heart! We tried to stage a little Wizard of Oz house-falling-on-the-witch scene with an ottoman vs a house and boots rather than ruby slippers. Caleb had no idea what we were doing. After all the silliness, the kids raided mom's candy bowl and Lexi had to be on her way. Caleb was beat anyway, and after some dinner, a bath, and putting on pjs, he snuggled up to Pop Pop to watch some cartoons before heading home.
